Rule of thumb: Standard for most services. Fast if the speaker races ahead with long sentences. Slow for a calm, measured speaker where you want the fullest phrasing.
You don’t have to get this right before you start. The caption speed can be changed during a live service from the captioning window.
When you change the speed live, it applies right away — there’s no need to stop captioning or re-link your OBS / vMix sources. If a speaker slows down after an energetic opening, ease from Fast back to Standard on the fly.
